Abstract
In recent years, the government pushing the cultural and creative industries, and the combination of Taiwan's cultural and creative products with local characteristics to promote local culture has become one of the priorities of industrial development. There-fore, this study aims to integrate graphic design and anti-counterfeiting technology, by taking the well-known Taiwan Phalaenopsis and the Board-tailed butterfly(Agehana maraho) as the subjects of artistic screening, to enhance the value-added of applications of cultural and creative industries. This research will proceed into four stages: the first stage is to design the Butterfly image of Agehana maraho, which gradually changes from smaller size to larger ones. The second stage is transformingthe Butterfly image of Agehana maraho into abstract images of butterflies, which will also produce an in-termediary image. Then the third stage is to convert those abstract images of butterflies into the shape of transcendental Phalaenopsis, with white on black. The final stage is turning the larger Phalaenopsis gradually into smaller ones. The result shows that through digital halftoning technique, processing by digital algorithms (ordered dither-ing), allows the artistic screening of Phalaenopsis to reproduce the full tones of original images faithfully. With naked eyes, the halftone image simply presents the pattern of Phalaenopsis; however, through a magnifying glass, the microstructures of screentone will be the composition of the butterflies and Phalaenopsis. The particular structure of screentone, discovered through this research, thus, can be used in the anti-counterfeiting technique, in order to effectively protect the copyrights of valuable products and pack-ages. Moreover, integrating with graphic design and the artistic screening of Phalaenopsis shall also enhance the international visibility of Taiwan Phalaenopsis in the future.
